NOIDA: The district administration has ordered schools not to impose any increase in fees in the 2021-22 academic session over those charged in the previous session, and also refrained them from insisting on quarterly payment.
The decision was taken at an internal meeting of the district fee regulation committee (DFRC) on Tuesday.
“The committee has reviewed the pandemic situation and unanimously decided that in the academic year 2021-22, no fee increment shall be permitted and all the schools have been asked to charge the prevailing fee of 2020-21, which is no more than the fees of the 2019-2020 session,” read the order of the district magistrate.
“This is pertinent to inform all stakeholders that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the National Disaster Management Act, 2005, is still in force. The schools are also instructed to charge fees in a monthly manner and not in a quarterly manner,” the order has stated.
In fact, with complaints mounting against private schools in the city for imposing ‘annual fees’ at the end of the academic year, the district fee regulation committee (DFRC) held a meeting to discuss some plaints received by the panel .
District magistrate Suhas LY told TOI, “We did not keep any school as part of it, this is because we wanted to study the complaints neutrally based on the facts that were presented before us.”
On the agenda of the meeting was the issue of the annual fees imposed by Delhi Public School (DPS)-Noida.
Despite repeated attempts, the school authorities could not be contacted.
