The shutdown order on internet services will be implemented with immediate effect. The services will remain suspended till 5pm tomorrow.
The Haryana government on Friday issued an order whereby internet services in 14 districts have been shut down till 5pm on January 30, taking the number of districts with internet shut down to 17. The order said the shutdown would be implemented with immediate effect.
The 14 districts are: Ambala, Yamuna Nagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat, Hisar, Jind, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Fatehabad, Rewari and Sirsa.
As per the order, only voice calls will be allowed in these areas.
The Haryana government had earlier suspended internet services in Sonipat, Palwal and Jhajjar.
The shutdown orders come in the wake of the ongoing farmers’ protest in Delhi and adjoining states.

Earlier in the day, several farmers from parts of Haryana decided to head towards Delhi’s borders to join the ongoing agitation against agri laws, saying the government’s moves against peasant leaders will not weaken their protest.
The Ghaziabad administration had on Thursday given an ultimatum to agitating farmers to vacate the Uttar Pradesh Gate protest site by midnight, while the Delhi Police had issued lookout notices against farmer leaders.
In a report, quoting a farmers’ leader news agency PTI said a number of farmers from Jind, Rohtak, Kaithal, Hisar, Bhiwani and Sonipat will be going towards various protest sites at Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur.
At the protest site at the Uttar Pradesh Gate in Ghazipur bordering Delhi, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait broke down while speaking to the media on Thursday evening. He alleged that “injustice” was being meted out to the farmers by the government by not repealing the new farm laws.
