Xiaomi has just announced MIUI 12.5 along with the Mi 11 series. The update is slowly rolling out for some devices in China and introduces incremental adjustment in visuals and new features. The new update serves as an incremental step before the MIUI 13 version which may be announced in the second quarter of 2021. Now, an XDA Forum Member found interesting details about the next version of Xiaomi’s software skin buried deep into the miui.com source code.
MIUI 13 STABLE UPDATE MAY DEBUT WITH THE MI MIX 4 AND MI NOTE 11
According to the report, MIUI 13 will come soon and some of the first devices sporting it will be the Mi Mix 4 and the Mi Note 11. The former was officially confirmed by the company after a hiatus in the series. However, the Mi Note 11 still remains a mystery. After all, since the Mi Note 10 which was released in 2019, the company is yet to bring a new smartphone. Of course, you can still count the Mi Note 10 Lite that arrived in the last year just to keep this lineup alive. Unfortunately, when it comes to the Mi Note 11 details are pretty much scarce.
MI MIX 4 WILL BRING NEW INNOVATIONS FOR THE POPULAR BEZEL-FREE SMARTPHONE SERIES
The Mi Mix 4, in counterpart, is already circulating through the rumor mill. For instance, many reports indicate that this handset will be Xiaomi’s first phone to boast an under-display selfie camera. This kind of choice certainly fits on a Mi Mix device. After all, the original device started the trend for bezel-less displays. The Mi Mix 3S debuted with a sliding display which also was quite innovative. Since the Mi Alpha, which was more a concept than an actual device, Xiaomi has been keeping this smartphone series under the wraps.
According to a Chinese tipster, BOE and Huaxing have already kicked off mass production of OLED panels with under-display cameras. These panels will reach the end consumer in the second half of this year. This probably coincides with the possible release date of the Mi Mix 4. The Mi Note 11 probably will also target a Q3 or Q4 launch schedule.
MIUI 13 may be announced in April, but the update will take several months to reach a stable state. The Mi Mix 4 may be the first device to come with a stable version of it straight out of the box. Unfortunately, we can only speculate for now, as we don’t have any hard evidence about these new devices. Of course, more leaks will appear in the coming weeks as nothing remains a secret for a long time in this industry.
