Vaccination dry run to begin in Haryana today

GURUGRAM: Haryana will begin its first dry run for Covid-19 vaccination in Panchkula on Saturday. The second dry run, which will include Gurugram, is scheduled next week. The entire process – transporting the vaccine from cold storage to the booth, administering it, crowd management and ensuring Covid protocols and uploading the data on the Co-WIN app — will be rehearsed during the dummy run.

Meanwhile, the health department on Friday asked the Haryana government for more manpower for the upcoming Covid vaccination programme. As five members will be deployed at each vaccine site, the city will require a total of 1,430 officers for 286 sites. Currently, the health department requires 570 more staff from the education department, Saral Kendra and Gurgaon Police for smooth handling of the programme. The health department has identified 286 vaccine sites. At each of these, only pre-registered beneficiaries will be allowed to proceed for vaccination. A total of 35,000 healthcare workers will be administered the Covid vaccine.

“We have uploaded their details on the Co-WIN app. The training of about 500 health workers is also complete,” said Dr MP Singh, district immunisation officer, Gurugram.

He added, “We need police officers to check everyone at the entry gate of each booth, as well as IT staff from Saral Kendra to upload data on the Co-WIN app. We also need teachers to supervise the process at the vaccine booths, which are located in schools.”
