TVS Motor Company recently filed multiple trademark applications for its upcoming new models. There are four names trademarked by the company – Fiero, Retron, Raider and Zeppelin R. As of now, there is no official word about the new models, their names and details. Here’re the popular speculations revolving around each nameplate.
TVS FIERO
The Chennai-based bikemaker might mark its entry into the 125cc motorcycle segment with the TVS Fiero. The model is likely to carry modern design with features such as LED lighting and digital console with Bluetooth connectivity. In 2000, the company brought the Fiero 150cc motorcycle under its partnership with Suzuki. Though, it was discontinued due to poor sales.
Speculations suggest that the TVS Retron could be a new retro-classic version of the Radeon or a new electric scooter. If former will be the case, the model will receive retro design treatment as we have seen with the Hero Splendor Pro Classic. It is likely to come with the same BS6, 109.7cc, air-cooled engine with a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. The Retron might also be a retro-looking electric scooter that will sit above the iQube in the company’s product lineup.
TVS Raider
The TVS Raider nameplate could be used for the company’s new entry-level 200cc adventure bike or a premium adventure tourer based on Apache RR 310’s platform. If it’s a new 200cc adventure motorcycle, it will share platform with the Apache RTR 200 4V. The model is likely to come with advanced off-road features.
The company might have patented the TVS Zeppelin R name for its upcoming cruiser motorcycle that will challenge the newly-launched Honda CB350 and Royal Enfield Meteor 350. The bike is likely to feature a 250cc or 310cc engine that will make it the more powerful than its rivals. The production-ready avatar of the Zeppelin concept based bike could be named – ‘Ronin’.
