Sanyam Bhardwaj, controller of examinations, CBSE, has ruled out the possibility to cancel the remaining exams. “The deliberations are on to decide the timeline to conduct the remaining exams,” Bhardwaj told Education Times.
With the country divided into red, orange and green zones based on the severity of the infections, it will not be feasible to conduct the exams in phases, he said. The rescheduled exams will follow the same cycle across India.
“The entire academic cycle has been disrupted due to the lockdown. College entrance exams including JEE, NEET, CLAT have been deferred and the new college semesters are bound to be delayed. We are waiting for the situation to improve and will conduct the exams after making an announcement 10 days prior to it,” says Bhardwaj. He adds that the board will ensure speedy evaluation as soon as the restrictions are lifted.
The board was not able to conduct exams on eight examination days due to COVID-19. Further, due to the law and order situation in North East Delhi district the board was not able to conduct exams on four examination days, while a very small number of students from and around this district were not able to appear in exams on six days. Owing to the circumstances, the board will conduct examinations for only 29 main subjects that will be required for promotion and are crucial for admissions in higher educational institutions
