Late last month Microsoft updated the Edge browser beta for iOS with multiple new features. According to the changelog, Microsoft Edge beta now comes with picture-in-picture, MSN Kids mode and other changes on iOS devices.
Microsoft Edge version 42.9.0 comes with Picture-in-Picture mode which allows users to pop a video out from a webpage such as YouTube and watch the content on a floating window which apparently hovers above the other Edge tabs.
To enable floating video feature, you would need to open the advanced settings page and toggle on ‘Enable Floating Video’ option located at the bottom of the page. Once enabled, you need to scroll the web or swipe the video window from top left to bottom right to watch videos in picture-in-picture mode.
The update also adds support for MSN Kids, a news site created for children in the elementary and middle school age group by Microsoft. This can be enabled from the new tab page settings.

- You can keep watching a video in “picture in picture” mode while browsing.
- Edge MMX inform you about reliability of news source through rating flag provided by NewsGuard.
- Parents and children can select kids-friendly news contents and recommendable websites curated by MSN Kids in the NTP newsfeed.
The update is currently only available for Microsoft Edge beta testers on iOS. Microsoft Edge update with PIP and other features will be released to all iOS users in the coming weeks or months.
