If you watched the new release Dhadak last Friday in theaters, then you would know that the film takes you on a journey from Udaipur to Kolkata.
For those who haven’t yet seen the film, in Dhadak, the two protagonists played by Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter are on the run and travel from Udaipur to Mumbai then Nagpur, and finally end up in Kolkata.
While, these cities may have played a different role in the film, we love them because during monsoon, all of them turn into the perfect holiday destination.
Since it is the season of rains, you should definitely pack your bags right now and visit these places ASAP.
UDAIPUR
Udaipur is one of those cities in India that is as rich in history as in natural beauty. The City of Lakes looks like heaven on earth as soon as the first drops of rain hit the ground.
From taking horse rides in old palace farms to visiting the famous Monsoon Palace or Sajjan Garh Fort perched atop the Banswara Hills, Udaipur offers you an unforgettable experience of monsoons.
If you plan to go to Sajjan Garh Fort, you may just experience exquisite beauty as you witness white clouds blanketing the fort here in all its glory. You can also avail great offers in hotels, as monsoons are the peak tourist season in the city.
While you are there, don’t forget to savour incredible local dishes in the open-air cafes of Udaipur while enjoying the rains. Remember Exotic View Cafe from Dhadak?
MUMBAI
If you want to experience Mumbai in a perfect amalgamation of life and chaos, then you should not skip visiting the city during monsoons. As soon as the first raindrops hit Mumbai, the city comes to a standstill.
Monsoons are best experienced in Mumbai when you ditch the umbrella and walk down the Bandra bandstand with a hot cuppa in your hand, overlooking the stormy sea.
If you want to experience the greenery of Mumbai, we suggest you visit the Sanjay Gandhi National Park to explore Kanheri caves. Don’t forget to capture the ancient caves sprinkled with Buddhist inscriptions on the basalt walls.
Later, spend the evening with wildlife, birds and numerous plants that the national park is home to.
NAGPUR
Monsoon is one of the best times to enjoy a road trip to some of the tourist attractions around Nagpur. The city may not be home to beaches and hills, but there are quite a few attractions that are best experienced during monsoons.
Our recommendation is to travel to Zilpi Lake for a solitary time or Mansar and Nagardhan Fort if you like exploring ancient ruins.
Don’t miss the Chikhaldara hill station while you are there, and experience the stunning views of the valley and lovely weather.
KOLKATA
Kolkata, popularly known as the City of Joy, and rightly so, comes alive during the monsoons. The city is at its pleasant best during the monsoons.
Savour the season by travelling to the Tajpur beach or spend your evenings sitting idle at the Hooghly river or the Prinsep Ghat sipping on hot tea and marveling the city from its banks.
The city is also home to many mouthwatering dishes that are best experienced during the rains like aloo chop, beguni, vegetable chop, fish cutlet, mochar chop, onion chop and fuluri with some parched rice and smoking hot tea, like Madhukar and Parthavi!
