Gupt Navratri 2024: Goddess Durga To Arrive On Horse. Know Date And Significance

Gupt Navratri is a nine-day festival that takes place during the months of Magha and Ashada.

Ashad month began on June 22 and is scheduled to conclude on July 22. It is the first of two months that comprise the monsoon season. Navratri also falls in the Shukla Paksha of this month, and is called Gupt Navratri. It is called Gupt because it is not worshipped like the Navratri of Chaitra or Kwar. This time, Gupt Navratri falls in the month of July. It is a nine-day festival that takes place during the months of Magha and Ashada. It is one of the four Navratri festivals that occur each year, but it is less known and is often worshipped in secret. This year, Navratri will begin on Saturday, July 6. It will conclude on July 15. According to astrologers, this year, goddess Durga will be arriving on a horse. This is an indication of natural disaster, war and change of power in the country and the world.

Navratri festival is celebrated in different parts of India to please Goddess Durga. It is believed that the Navratri is celebrated at night because of the calm environment which can help the devotee to meditate and worship goddess Durga. This is why Navratri means 9 nights.

The devotees worship girls during Navratri, especially on Ashtami and Navami. Girls are made to sit on a seat or table and worshipped in the form of Ishta Devi (desired goddess) as per the rituals. According to Hindu scriptures, all women are said to be the form of Goddess. We should respect all women.

According to Hindi Panchang, certain rules need to be followed during the Gupt Navratri. The goddess should not be seated facing north. Worship Kaal Bhairav on the right side of the goddess and Gaur Bhairav on the left side. Worship ghee on the right side of the goddess and light a lamp of sesame oil on the left side. All wishes will be fulfilled by worshipping the goddess, fasting and performing Navchandi Yagya.

On this day, offering fragrant garlands, flowers and betel leaves in the temple of the Goddess ensures peace and happiness in the house.
